How companies with a multicultural workforce make for a better Suomi 100?

In 2016, the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce started the Chamber of Multicultural Enterprises (COME) -project as a part of the At Work in Finland project, funded by the European Social Fund and Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. In spring 2017, the COME-project organised the Successful Multicultural Company campaign in cooperation with the Finland Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

As part of the campaign, a competition to search for “successful multicultural companies” was organised. The goal of the competition was to recognise these companies and highlight positive testimonials and experiences they have with multiculturalism.

The competition was executed via a survey conducted by the expert partner, Hofstede Insights. The survey measures companies’ organisational cultures and multicultural capabilities, and visualises to which extent the organisational cultures of Finnish organisations enable or hinder the acceptance of foreigners.

In the following pdf, we will walk you through the main findings of the “Successful Multicultural Company” campaign.
