about

Chris completed the Hofstede Insights Intercultural Management and Organizational Culture certification programs. Culture has always been at the heart of Chris’ story: “I’m African by birth, Dutch by descent, Australian by relation, American and British by association, Arabian by residence and Canadian by choice”.

During times of rapid cultural change in his country, he became a South African Air Force pilot, commissioned by President Nelson Mandela. Before immigrating to Canada, his aviation career took him to the Arabian Peninsula for almost two decades where he worked with colleagues and students from 19 different countries, including five NATO member states; nine states of the Commonwealth of Nations and all six Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Professional success stories include work done for large multinational aerospace, defense, security and engineering corporations based in London, U.K., Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America. Chris has worked with Government agencies of the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

His broad international exposure, deep knowledge of human factors and Chris’ personal cultural competence add credible weight to the Hofstede Insights models and tools. Working on an EASA Crew Resource Management Trainer Examiner upgrade (for me) course with Chris was a great pleasure. He is engaging and provides many insightful contributions for the team. He has considerable pan-cultural experience, with which he has the ability to demonstrate a high level of empathic understanding. I wholeheartedly recommend Chris especially in the field of Human Factors.

Peter Jewell Director HOFTCO p/l Event Investigation / Human Organisational Factors / CRM / Just Culture / NTS Trainer Consultant September 21, 2020, Chris worked with Peter in the same group

I've had the pleasure of meeting Chris while delivering a series of Human Factors training sessions. As a Crew Resource Management trainer, Chris has demonstrated top-level knowledge in the field of human factors, human performance, pilot NOTECHs, and the capability of self-study and research going beyond the mainstream literature in the field. As an examiner, Chris demonstrated proficiency in modern-day instructor training techniques and robust briefing, assessing and de-briefing skills, while offering objective motivational and developmental feedback to his peers. Besides the skills relevant to the role of a trainer/ examiner, Chris has also filled our sessions with positivity, good humour, and friendly conversations, desirable in any training environment.
