As a business coach and consultant Michael Siller supports executives and their intercultural teams. He creates awareness and builds up the competences needed to turn cultural differences from a liability into an asset. Since conflicts are symptoms but never the root cause of a problem, he reads between the lines and shines light on to cultural blind spots. Michael helps his clients create lasting change and intrinsic motivation by using the energy of the conflicts to shift group dynamics.
Michael Siller holds a Masters degree in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Salzburg Austria. For his master thesis, he researched the impact of interpersonal communication and interaction rituals on organizational commitment.
In his former career as an actor, singer and dancer he performed internationally on stage and screen over the last 15 years. By stepping into each other’s shoes, we gain new perspectives and deeper understanding. As Shakespeare said “all the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”
His interest and passion for working with people from different cultures started early in his life. Growing up in a small town in northern Italy, with an Italian passport but German mother tongue, led him to question the concept of identity and cultural heritage from early age on. When most people defined the world for themselves by limiting it to an “either/or” perspective, his openness and curiosity always led him to find answers in the “both/and” category.
For more than 15 years he has worked with international teams in Vienna, New York, Muscat, Washington DC, Rome, and Berlin. In 2013 he graduated from the Coaching academy “Passion for coaching” and he is an associate certified coach with the ICF (International Coaching Federation).
Among the companies he worked for are Microsoft, Tieto, DSSmith and Bayer.
Michael is fluent in German, Italian, and English. As a dual citizen (Italy, USA) he calls Europe and the U.S. home.
I worked with Michael Siller as my Executive Coach with the goal to grow and evolve as a HR professional. I have had a great experience. It helped me to develop the ability to understand other people’s perspectives, to build deeper relationships, which are crucial in an intercultural environment. He helped me gain insight into my own mindset and my preferred communication strategies in order to evolve it to enable me to be even more effective for my current role and where I want to go from a career perspective in the future. He helped me to stay on track throughout the coaching process, he always created an open and honest environment and demonstrated integrity and authenticity. I highly recommend Michael Siller as an Executive Coach because he helped me become a better person both professionally and personally. In addition to this, I appreciate the analysis which came from the Hofstede Insights team. Thank you, Michael Siller, Egbert Schram and Sjaak Pappe.
